To the Patrons of Littlefield ISD:

We are down to 33 days of school this year! There are lots of activities on the horizon as we prepare to finish the 21-22 school year out on a positive note. Our students in grades 3-11 will begin STAAR testing in April and May in the following subjects: English, Math, History and Science. Please visit with your child(ren) about the importance of testing and giving their BEST effort on each of these exams. If you have any questions regarding state testing, please feel free to contact your child’s principal.

The Board of Trustees approved the Order for calling a Bond Election in May of this year. The actual election date is May 7, 2022 and polls will open at 7:00 am and close at 7:00 pm. Early voting will begin on Monday, April 25 at the City of Littlefield, 301 XIT Drive, Littlefield, Texas and will run through Tuesday, May 3 during normal business hours of 8-5 with extended voting hours on Monday, April 25 and 26 from 7-7. Please feel free to contact Jessica Longoria at central office if you have any questions. You can find all the information regarding the Bond Election, etc. on our school website at www.lfdisd.orgThis is a reminder that everyone who is 65 years of age and older, your taxes will not be affected due to the fact your taxes are frozen. I encourage each of you to explore our school website and read the information regarding our bond election. If you have questions, please call 385-4150.

In regards to the bond election, there is some inaccurate information floating around on social media.

First of all, the proposed bond election is for $ 41.5 million dollars and will be used for the following items:  A New High School Building, A New Career & Technical Education Center, Renovation/Addition to Existing High School for Conversion to Junior High School, Elementary School “Maker-Space” & Library Improvements, and Primary School “Maker-Space” & Library Improvements. This is what each voter will be voting on May 7, 2022. As you can see, there is nothing regarding new athletic facilities with the exception of moving our current softball field out next to the baseball field. The purpose of moving the softball field out to the athletic complex is to have an area to build a high school. This makes more sense than purchasing land and having to prep the area (plumbing, electrical, water lines, parking, etc.) prior to building a new school. We had originally looked at some land across from the administration building, but decided against that idea. With that being said, we will have another community wide meeting on Thursday, April 28 at 6:00 PM in the Junior High School Auditorium. This will be a Question/Answer session and there will be a representative from Parkhill Architect along with Vince Vialle from Personalized School Finance in attendance. I encourage YOU to attend the meeting and learn about the upcoming election!
